Tianchen Dai was born in October 1989, Nanjing, China. She holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from the Southeast University, China. She received a Master of Architecture Degree from Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, UK, and a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Department of Built Environment, University of Nottingham, UK. She worked as a visiting researcher from 2016 to 2018 at Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Delft Technical University, The Netherlands, where she worked again as a postdoctoral researcher from 2020 March to 2021 November, on the project “Port City Futures”, initiated by the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centers. She is now a Tenure-Track Associate Professor in School of Design, East China Normal University, Shanghai, China. With the aid of digital techniques, she researches how the cultural connotation of historic urban landscape and urban cultural heritage is shaped through local and global cultural practice, and how it is delivered to and perceived by individuals. Her research outcomes provide a series of operable and creative strategies for the practice of urban, landscape and exhibition design, with the aim of enhancing the connotation of local culture. Until now, she has published 14 articles in Chinese and international journals. 8 out of the 14 articles are SCI/SSCI/A&HCI journal articles, with an average impact factor of 5.4.
