Wei Shaonong, the Dean and professor of the School of Design of East China Normal University since 2006. Talents in the New Century of the Ministry of Education, Top Ten Excellent Art Teachers of Shanghai Education Commission, Shanghai Education Commission Award for Teaching and Educating, Top Ten Leading Figures of Creative Industries in Shanghai, 100 Designers Affect Shanghai, and Team Leader of National May Day Model Workers Award. His subjects and research directions are Art Design, Design Culture and Management, and Urban Renewal Design. The main courses are Art History, Design Industry and Business Model Research, Design and Creative Industry, Culture and Aesthetics of Brand Image.

Since 1984, he has published 31 papers and critical articles on art history and art education at home and abroad. In June 2004, he presided over the reconstruction project of the design factory (from the original Shanghai Bread Factory). The park was the first batch of creative industrial parks awarded by the Economic Commission in Shanghai and was named one of the top ten most influential creative parks in Shanghai in 2005; In December 2004, a long article Creative Shanghai, Serving the World Expo was published in People’s Daily, which made a comprehensive analysis on the development of creative industries in Shanghai. In 2006, he was named the top ten creative industry leaders in Shanghai and was hired as the deputy chief planner of Shanghai Creative Industry Center; In January 2008, he was named one of the 100 designers who influenced Shanghai; From May 2006 to 2010, he presided over the design of the theme venue project of the 2010 World Expo (Urban Footprint Pavilion) by the design team of China Normal University; In 2009, he presided over the design of the Yangtze River Estuary Science and Technology Museum; In 2011, he won the National May 1 ST Model Worker Medal; In 2012, he won the New Century Talent of the Ministry of Education; In 2012, he was awarded the Shanghai Teaching and Educating Award by Shanghai Education Commission.
