Chen Hailu, associate professor of East China Normal University. Now she works in the School of Design of East China Normal University. In her early years she worked in Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio as the chief original painting and executive director. In 2008, she studied in the graduate class of Creation and Teaching of Experimental Animation and Experimental Film in collaboration with CALarts of California Institute of Arts, USA and CAFA School of Urban Design of Central Academy of Fine Arts. She engaged in Experimental Animation Creation and Teaching, good at Experimental Animation and Teaching Research. The works of her students have been shortlisted for domestic independent animation and awards for many times, as well as the VAFi Varazdin International Animation Festival in Croatia, Switzerland, Britain and other international animation festivals. She trained students to pursue further studies in Royal College of Art and University of the Arts London. Personal research fields include: role modeling in animation, research on experimental animation creation, research on teaching methods of creative thinking in animated short films, etc.

Her independent works have won many awards, such as the Golden Dolphin Award at Xiamen International Animation Festival, Golden Dragon Award, Jinpeng Award and participated in more than 30 international animation and short film festivals such as COB China Screen Biennale in the United States, Berlin Short Film Festival in Germany, Brazil International Animation Film Festival, Traditional Deduction-Exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Artists in Cleveland State University. She was invited to participate in the 2018 Seoul International Animation Festival in South Korea and the 2018 Tricky Women International Women Animation Festival in Vienna, Austria. In 2017, she won the Director Support Program of China New Media International Short Film Festival. In 2019, she served as the judge of Jinpeng Award of China New Media International Short Film Festival. She is a member of Shanghai Film Association, Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles and China Animation Film Society.
