Lu Jian, went to England to study at his own expense in October 1999. He was admitted to Kingston University in October 2001, and studied as a graduate student in DRAWING AS PROCESS. He graduated in December 2002 with a Master degree. From April 2004 to July 2016, he taught in the History and Theory Department of Shanghai University Academy of Fine Arts. During his tenure in the History Department of Shanghai University Academy of Fine Arts, he taught the following courses: History of Western Art, History of Modern Design, History of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Art, Western Museum Culture, Art Exhibition and Planning, and Art Marketing. In July 2016, he joined the School of Design, East China Normal University, and taught undergraduate courses such as Design History, Art History, Modern and Contemporary Art History, Introduction to Design, and postgraduate courses such as Design Schools and Styles in the Twentieth Century and Literature Review.
